Air bag suspension

I bought a 27' 5th wheel camper and was looking for a 3/4 ton truck to pull it. A friend told me I could just put air bags on the back of my 2001 f150 4x4 and it would pull it just fine. Camper tag says fully loaded 6000#. Thats about the limit my truck tag says it will tow. What air bag kit would I need for my truck? Any of you guys ever put these on the back of your trucks?

Don't take your friends advice.
Check your owner manual page 178.
Find your equipage in the charts.
Look at the max gross combined weight rating for your truck.
.
Your truck may be able to pull the trailer but it is too large for an F150.
You don't have enough swept brake power, the bed mounted trailer hitch may overload an F150, axle load rating, tire rating etc. .
If a Super Crew, not recommended to pull a 5th wheel.
.
Back to trailer towing; find your max gross combined weight rating.
Subtract your truck's .....loaded weight........ from the gross combined weight and that is you max permissible towing load.
A 5th wheel load changes all this to boot. because it not an under bumper hitch load but is now in the bed with a higher load due to different weight distribution.
.
Other than your truck being to light and not equipped for this level of use, go with an F250, largest motor, and lower gear ratio, .along with a tow package. Don't forget wide mirrors.
Trans cooler, tires with the load capacity etc.
Your friend is not showing knowledge of these factors when just recommending air bag addition on an F150...
Bottom line is, sure the truck may pull it but the durability and safety and legality is in question using an F150 to pull a 27 foot 5th wheel or any 27 foot trailer.
Good luck.
