Ok, I just got a new-to-me 2016 F250 Lariat 4x4 diesel and have a question about the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). This is the first Ford truck I've owned and I'm used to being able to see my tire pressure on the dash with the push of a button or two (2012 Chevy 1500). For the life of me, I can't find a similar place on the Ford that shows the actual tire pressure. Does that exist, or does the Ford TPMS only give you a warning when the pressure is low, without actually showing the pressure?
If it did, it would be in one of the screens accessed via the left hand steering wherl button/menu. Most don’t show the actual pressure reading (my 2011 doesn’t).
The truck does know the psi of each tire, Ford just decided for some reason not to let us see it. I installed a Kenwood head unit in my '16 f250, and now i have instant readouts on tire pressure among many other things.
The stereo just splices (or plugs) into the obdII Port. It tells you many things. Even your exhaust gas temp, intake temp, throttle position, amount of torque, percent of fuel left. Etc.etc. I don't know why Ford doesn't let us see all this from the get go. It's already there. You just need something to display it on.
That is awesome. I learned something new today as I had no idea that modern stereos could tap into the OBDII port, and I just bought a new Pioneer AVH-X490BS touchscreen system in January.
