anyone know what this color is? It’s replacing Shadow Black for 19’ SD trucks. More specifically , is it a metallic or solid color? Curious, I’m ordering a 19’ Monday, and don’t want a solid black because of scratches. Decided on Magnetic, unless this Agate Black is a neater color.
I believe I read it was non-metallic. I wanted black on my 2019 either way but I hear ya on the scratches. A good buff every few years has done the trick with my 11 yr old F150 daily driver.
I contacted the seller who is the paint mfgr, and they confirmed it's metallic paint. So I am not sure where they get their paint recipes but I would assume from Ford since the color isn't even out yet...
If you go to Ford's website you can see agate on the 2019 edge. Should give you some idea of what it looks like.
yeah it's hard to tell from a computer generated image, not to mention I called Ford corporate they couldn't confirm metallic or not, dealer says it's not metallic, this says it is, and for the life of me I have no idea why Ford would change the black color from one jet black to another. There really aren't different shades of non metallic black. We shall see how it shows up, I ordered agate black regardless.....
Well the plot thickens even further, I found a Agate Black for flex vin number (they are coming out about a month before the 2019 Super Duty. I pulled up the window sticker and it simply says "Agate Black", however I then plugged in the vin number to the Ford ETIS site and there it was Agate Black METALLIC!!!!!
According to the 2019 Exterior Colors truck/suv brochure I picked up today, agate black is metallic.

I picked it up today from a dealership in Blue Springs, MO. It had a little cross next to the color. At the bottom, in the fine print, it said it was metallic. I hope it’s right!

Well I just did some more searching and ran across the 2019 Fleet Guide, it also says Agate Black is Metallic: (Silver Spruce is also metallic which the order guide said both Agate Black and Silver Spruce were NOT metallic)
This made my night, I knew Ford screwed up the order guide!
