I bought a 94 XLT ext. cab 4x4 with a 302 last Saturday. The heating and a/c fan was working b/f I bought it when I drove it. Now, it comes on when I start the truck for a little while. Then, it kind of fades away regardless of what speed the fan is on. Any thoughts? Thanks.
Probe with a test light to see if it is getting power when it fades. Could be the motor is bad and binding when it gets warm. If you dont have any power start backtracking could be a bad resistor or switch.
Hope this helps
You may have just had a coincidence. Normally the fan relay connection goes bad. I've also had a connection just behind the control panel go bad too. It seems that Ford decided to use a Thunderbird panel and cut the original connector and spliced it in. It even says Thunderbird on the panel in behind where it normally can't be seen.
On my 89 van it is in front of the battery. At least on mine, I have to remove the battery to get it out, but I am able to pull the connector by just tipping the battery back a little.
