need help mounting relay

I'm using a temco cn0243 relay to control my tilt hood....it's a rectangular chunk of black mystery material (probably unobtanium) and has no mounting studs, flanges or nothin. Offer me some suggestions on how to
mount this chunk securely under the hood (close to the rad support)...

thanks
j

You could make a simple captive tension clip. I have even used industrial Velcro.

You need a mounting block. Ive tried to reach Temco for contact number but their site seems to be down right now. For wiring it the relay should have a schematic printed on it, but probably small and difficult to see. There are lots of generic contact blocks available, but Ive not seen that configuration. Here is the Grainger page for their relay circuits. If you knew the socket code it would be easy.

That's kind of an odd-ball. The other Temco relays mount to DIN rails. Your appears to be a NO/NC or possibly a reversing DC relay.

I would probably find out what else uses that relay and try to find a socket for it.
If one wasn't available, I either would use plastic ties or make a little plate wider than the relay, with holes (for screws) in it, lay the relay on it's side and epoxy it to the plate

Maybe you could use two of those black ty-raps that have the screw mounting hole on the top of them. Cut the the ty-rap tails the width of the relay, or the height depending on how you want to mount it. Then epoxy them on the bottom. That should give you instant "ears".

Tilt hood. It's a DC reversing (change over) relay, same as used on small electric winches.
This one has mounting ears.

No ears, but standard module size.

John
As others have suggested, I'd try to find the receptacle for the relay as it might be easier to work with than the relay itself

Good luck

Bobby... checked with Temco and they offer no socket or bracket for it... go figure
Mixer man... et. all this is what I came up with... bent aluminum wth beautiful yellow paint
will put some soft side velcro between relay and frame... and since it's potted I'm
not going to be concerned with weather... my truck won't be in any but sunny weather anyway, right ???

There is no mounting socket/bracket available for this particular relay. The only alternatives are to make your own mounting or go to a different relay that has mounting features. Do you have any knowledge of the amp draw for the linear actuators? There are several reversing relays that may fit your needs.

You can also use two standard relays with a reversing switch instead.

Bob, I called the mfg of the actuator and asked the same question... they had every spec listed on the data sheet but the amp draw... Nice lady said "Hold on a sec and I'll check that for you" 25 minutes later I hung up. Power wire is 14 ga so it couldn't be more than 10 amps or so... I should check that I guess... this relay is rated at 80/100 amps... It'll do. here's the spec sheet on the actuators... Mine is the 8" lift 1000# model

edit... I just found another source that said max amp draw is 17 amps at full load
