the northeast rust battle
strategy is
1. salt away
2. rust mort
3. rust inhibitor
4. used motor oil
I use a fluid film spray system mainly because it can handle thin and thick fluids
pressure washer
gas air compressor (the electric ones bleed out quickly...the gas one never bleeds out and maintings 100psi)
4 6000lb bottle/jack stands
I pressure wash both sides of the rims, then coat the inside with penetrate spray....seems it make it easier to clean.
probally a 4 hour drill.

I also live in the greater Northeast , Just got back into Ford with a 2016 F-450 the truck I picked up was driven in the Salt / Brime for one season but not much , has minimum salt exposure but can tell has slight corrosion starting ... Not bad at all .
I had a 2001 F-350 was my last Ford and had to take precautions to slow the rust .That was the last Ford I had till now .
I still have 1997 Dodge Cummins and 2016 GMC 3500 and will say the GMC is way better than the Dodge with corrosion protection . I am lucky to have the ability to hose my truck down at work , I do offer a hose for my works that come in early and want to wash there trucks down ... It makes a big difference , you spend all that money and have your truck rust away really sucks .
I can't believe Fords still corrode at the body underside same as my 2001 . Drive shaft has a nice coat of rust , Ford does not want to paint them .
Since this is my F450 is my Toy Hauler the truck is parked when the roads are salted .
I plan on coating the underside of my cab especially the rocker area's get the salt splash and seem to have the signs of seam corrosion .
I'm also going to paint the driveshaft , chassis and axles , Ford does not seem to do a good job .
I have not tried any of the salt prevention products on my personal trucks but have used them on work trucks with marginal results .
I seen a YouTube Video guy had a brand new F-150 and after one season of Northeast salt belt use they truck was corrosively a mess ... it was a rust bucket , unfortunally up in the salt / brime areas the stuff will destroy steel and aluminum you need to take precautions and wash the underside of your truck .
I use one of those Home Depot Garden wands , has a 3ft extension and multi adjustable stream head ... works awesome gets in the wheel wells and under truck .
Just my 2 cents

I remeber back in the day my tail gate was starting to rust along the lower edge on a brand new truck and ford told me if I did not drive it in the salt it would not have rusted .. LOL Funny but not .
My daily driver is a 2016 GMC 3500 and GM uses old school wax coating on there frame coating , as long as you don't use any chemical solvent type cleaners its fine but carb cleaner will take off the frame coating .
Coating of rust is not a bad thing Pro-15 bonds right to it ,
Looks like your frame is a good canadate for it .
