Hey guys! Not new to the forum or anything, but Im looking for a new truck, this is a 2003 F250 with the 5.4 with 230,000 miles. As you can see from the pictures, its a quad cab long bed, 4x4 and the interior is clean as hell. As of right now, the bed is shot, so is a cab corner and rocker panel. The truck looks to be alright, but it has a weird exhaust note almost like a drum roll at idle breifley, but feels normal at the usual rpms. Plus, the rear brakes were dragging. Is 2k a good gamble for the truck? Steering is tight and so is the suspension, just rust and the exhaust noise are my only worries, thoughts?
2k for that truck is good, CC 4x4 are worth a bit more coin, the exhaust note could be an exhaust leak or a misfire caused by bad spark plugs, COP boot or weak or bad COP. Is the check engine light on?

No check engine lights at all, he replaced only 2 of the COP so I wanna replace all 8 and give it another go. That or it's exhaust, I dont think it's internal.
Dont buy coils just buy new boots, 99% of the time is just disintegrated boots good luck.
Im just taking the ones out of my v10 since it's done, the gas is over a year old and I'm thinking maybe the gas being old could effect the idle cause the longer it runs the more it smooths out. I don't thinks it's compression because when you hold it at 2k at idle it doesn't miss a beat and feels relatjvley nimble, nothing like the v10 I had tho, alot slower.
I'll keep you guys posted, I really do like the quad cab long bed set up and it's surprisingly not rusted out, I really don't think it's missing because no codes and it still pulls hard, it's just making a weird exhaust note at idle off an on. I think it's worth the gamble even if it needs new exhaust manifolds or even a totally new exhaust system it would still be worth it
My lady friend was driving and was hit into the guard rail on 422 and smashed pretty hard. Oil filter knocked off, front axle knocked off and transfer case was broken off.
To let you know 97-03 ford v8 triton and every other ford triton 97-03, lincoln, vans, etc. has sparkplug blowout issues with only 4 threads in head spark plug hole, look it up, ford spark plug blowout problem.

Easy to avoid and, if it happens, repaired. He already has a V10, he's probably well acquainted.
I'm not a newby to the Ford truck market, very used to their "quirks" such as warping rear rotors and how you have to use motorcraft oil filters. Surpringly I've never had an issue with spark plugs blowing out
