Dana 50/60

Simple question...

Did any Excursions come with D60 as an option? Or only D50?

All Excursions came with Dana 50 front axles.

Also maybe a quick clarification from those in the know. I used to know but I'm old and forgot. Set me straight.

Front: Our D50's are physically the size of a D60 with D40 guts?

Rear: Sterling 10.5"

Some parts are Dana 44 size with Dana 50/60 bearings and races.

With a bearing journel adapter you can put a Dana 44 locker in the Dana 50 though.

The Dana 50 is still a strong axle, my main complaint with it is they don't make a Detroit Truetrac for it. As far a strength goes you are probably not going to break it unless you are running huge tires like 38s or 40 or are putting it through alot of abuse.

My thoughts exactly! That is one reason why I switched to the D60...for the upgrade options.

DTS, will sell you a D44 trutrack or any other limited slip or posi differential for the D50.

$100 for the bearing sleeves and your all set.

I went to 4.30 gears in my above pictured Ex for towing. I opted to get a D60 at the time and had an ARB locker installed.

The D50 options seemed limited when I researched.
