Hey guys doing a motor sawp on a 2000 EX was wondering what any body thought on use of a spectra or Dorman? I been reading about the morrosa pans but I don't really have the money for those. Any one have good luck with after market?
It has a 7.3. I'm doing a motor sawp from a 2000 f350 cuz the EX motor is bad. So while I got it pulled out I wanna replace cuz it's not gunna get any easier. I just don't have the money to buy a oem pan
Pans are the same and the motor im putting in ok but with motor already out it's a no brainer just to change it any way. I jus wanna make that dorman or spectra are decent to use. Or if people have had problems with them sealing to block.
Only issue I have ever heard about the stock pans is from folks who live in the rust belt and theirs have rusted.
Being in CA mine looks as shiny and fresh as the day it was made in 2001. I suspect mine will easily last another 18 years.
Yea I'm in the rust belt. The pan on motor I wanna use is ok but I don't wanna change it in 2 years cause I didn't do it now. If I can get away with using Dorman or spectra to save some money I will I jus don't wanna try it and be problems and have to buy oem
Idea, clean your existing pan and prep for coating using a rustoleum cold galvanizing coating per the instructions on the can. then paint it using a several coats of quality paint. Pan will not rust as long as it has a corrosion coating on it. Crawl under your Ex every spring and repaint as required,
If the pan is not currently rusty, no need to change it, just "upgrade" it like pirate said. The one thing I would do though is the side oring/seal while its out.
