Looks good Abe! Maybe if the paint was thinned down a bit it would "flow" a little better. I will be doing the same thing, hopefully sooner than later! I'm also thinking POR-15. You know how it "flows" on a surface. Kind of self levels. I haven't check to see if they have it in red yet. Just a thought. I plan to do a little more research and stop at my local auto paint shop and pick their brains. The rain has finally stopped so I may be making a road trip on Friday. Keep your phone handy!
Edit - Did a quick search and POR-15 makes a Red Caliper Paint. 8 oz. for $15 . Maybe worth a try!

That would be a lot of expensive POR 15 for two small emblems. Good idea about thinning the paint. How do you thin latex? With water or mineral spirits?

I always use Dick Blick 1 shot sign painters enamel on all restoration projects, whether it is vehicles, slot machines or jukeboxes. Works perfectly!!

That looks good Joe! Looks like that paint flows better.
Here's why I used the red paint that I use for my sideboards. I bought that paint in 2016 at a local paint store to match the red of the bed itself. The paint store closed. A local lumber yard picked up their business and their computer info. Last summer I painted some shutters on our house. They were a muted red color. I went to the lumber store to buy the paint. Their computer came up with Heritage Red. I told them to mix a gallon..... I went back the next day and it was the bright red of my side and head boards! The red i needed was called Calico and was under the contrators name that painted our house years ago. So, I have lots of that bright red paint. So I might as well use it. I will try to thin it for the next emblem.

Using Mark's suggested link I found a variety of liquid mask.

Mask the shines parts then you can spray paint with rattle can. Rustoleum makes lots of shades of red in their 2X paint. I think apple red may be the closest.

Use tape to mask the shiny raised parts? That is a lot of masking and again it wouldn't be real precise. Plus the raised side portions of the numbers should not be painted not just the top of the numbers.
One solution is to buy reproduced 55 F100 emblems and put them on.... It wouldn't be correct but sure would look pretty and shiny!
