Update on my 55 F350. It is finished and home!!

Went to the body shop this week. He had the hood primered and ready for paint. He cut out the rust in the hood lip and put in the patch panel. He got all the dings out of the hood including the oil can dent.
Before:

After:
I failed to take a pic!

He also had the patch panel on the one door. And again, no pic! Sorry.

I got the seat back from the Amish upholsterer. The original woven vinyl was intact after 63 years! The vinyl on the drivers side was torn. I picked out a red vinyl very close to the original. He replaced all the vinyl so it matched and would not be as brittle as the original. He also replaced the black beading, too. All this for $60.
Before:

After pics:

And I painted the seat runners:

Yesterday and today I started to paint the sideboards for the flatbed. The red paint can says it dries in 4-6 hours and can be painted the second coat after 16 hours! This will take several days for two coats and two sides!

And I cleaned up the mirrors and arms. I shined up the shiney parts and sprayed them with clear enamel and painted the black arms and the backs of the mirrors:

I'll remember to take pictures next time I'm at the body shop.

Nice work Abe.

I love the originality of your truck. And those seat runners have come up like brand new!

Without wanting to go off at too much of a tangent, I note a shiny button at the rear centre of your hood. The windscreen washer? If so, was that an original fit or aftermarket? Coming from the UK, I'm slightly bemused by the apparent omission of this feature on so many trucks over there. Were they an option?

And don't get me started about deleting wipers altogether. That's just too much!

Was wanting to know how your body shop experience was going. I wish my seats woven vinyl was good but it’s ripped. I need to find an Amish community! Prices are Excellent.

yes it is the washer nozzle you see which is a Ford accessory installed by the dealer. I can post pics of it later today. There is an NOS unit on sale now on eBay. It is a generic brand but it is identical what Ford used. You can also buy reproduction units from MidFifty.

Wipers? The UK does get a bit more rain than parts of the USA!

Google SMS Auto Fabrics. They have NOS material and recently started reproducing material.

Thanks. I am pleased. They are perfect but better than before. The Amishman said the original seat fabric had shrunk and he had to really stretch it but even still some of the vinyl and the black bead is higher on the seat than it was originally. And therefore some of the metal seat material is pushing the vinyl out.

Man you are slipping. Forgetting to take pictures, I'm not sure what we are going to do with you.
Sounds like some nice progress. Can't wait to see some pictures.

Tomorrow I'm going there to take out the wing vents and division bars so I can bring them home, clean them up and paint them. I'll take pics then. Promise!
