When I’m ready to do the CV swap, I understand that I need to true line the existing front end with the replacement. But my question is, before I run the line to mark placement, should I complensate for the worn control arm bushings? And secondly, didn’t I read somewhere on here that I should consider moving the CV forward by .75” in order to better center the front tire in the fender? Or was I imagining things?
I am working on the CV swap in my 61 Unibody and I moved the centerline forward .75 as well. My opinion concerning the 65 and 66 trucks would be to consider the .75 carefully. Measure twice and cut once. The CV is a 16" wheel where the old I-beam sits on 15" wheels. The difference in wheel size may give you reason to move the centerline a little, but maybe not a full .75.
Looks awesome. I have a 65, just did the CV swap. I moved mine ahead about 1 inch. Factory hole in frame was in a good spot so I used it. Should have room with no problem. Hope to have it back together soon.
I love those wheels on your truck, mind if I ask where you found them? That is a real nice look. I don't want to copy you, but I'd like something similar!
Good luck on your project, it looks great!
