2005 E350 with factory manual A/C, have changed the receiver/dryer and a new condenser-to-evaporator line as well. Removing the existing orifice tube was a bit of a bear--didn't know they fit that snugly.
FWIW the van A/C system is very similar to the F-Series to about 2002 or so
Any tricks or cool tools used to re-install a new orifice? I don't want to damage the replacement.
Dip it in PAG oil to lubricate the O-rings and stick it in there. Just make sure it's not backwards.
Sounds just like my honeymoon!
Can't imagine it going in backwards but good advice anyway.
After removing the original tube I tried test fitting it again, considering how snugly it seemed to fit. Since was I already replacing the original a little practice couldn't hurt but it goes in so far and seems without some sort of assist I could possibly bend the replacement tube. I'll try again with the old tube to get a feel how much pressure it can withstand without damage. After than installing the new tube shouldn't be too much an issue.
