Really bad idle surge

leaving work noticed truck running rough and no power, got home idle surging horrible.
no cel, ran contribution test all passed, ran buzz test all clear, basically as far as codes there is “no issue” . I’m usually pretty self sufficient when it comes to wrenching but I am having a hard time figuring this one.

No fuel pressure gauge, pump does run and refills filter housing, I could probably rig up a temporary gauge but not for a few days.
I could probably replace the pump sooner than that, if it proves not to be the pump I had been wanting to run dual pumps anyway.

try disconnecting the fuel line at the back of the fuel pump and blow a little air back into the tank. if it clears up temporarily you'll know it's problem

Or, disconnect line from back of pump and connect a 5ft piece of 5/16 line in its place that the other end in a 5gal diesel jug

It's like you guys are reading my mind, I was thinking about doing both of those things. Working on the truck is going to have to wait till Saturday , as much as i like driving the turtle it's not very high on my priorities .
Thanks for the input and i will update after the weekend with results.

I'm not so sure about that, Typically when people have a pump issue or a plugged filters the idle, is OK.
Idle is not very demanding on the fuel system. If it can bearly come up with enough fuel to run at idle, how did it make it home?

I had already unplugged icp to see if cleared up. As far as getting if home I drove very gingerly .
going to hook fuel pressure gauge to see, when I drained the bowl turned key on the pump filled bowl but not vey quickly.
honestly I'm really not sure what the issue is , but I have to start somewhere.

Temporarily ran clear line from filler neck to pump, was encouraged at first after running for a while just irritated again.
