2006 F250 SUPER DUTY 6.0. STUDDED, LOTS OF UPGRADES. SCT PROGRAMNER
WHEN TOWING MY FIFTH WHEEL CAMPER, MY BOOST USUALLY RUNS ABOUT 20, AND VARIES WITH TERRAIN TO MAINTAIN TORQUE/ SPEED AS EXPECTED.
. LATELY WHILE TOWING MY 5TH WHEEL , WHEN THE TRUCK MAKES ITS FINAL SHIFT ( INTO OVERDRIVE I GUESS) BOOST DROPS TO NEARLY NOTHING...EXHAUST TEMPS START TO RISE , . BECAUSE IM HAVING TO GIVE IT MORE FUEL TO MAINTAIN SPEED, AND IT MAKES A LOW
" DRONING" NOISE. FINALLY I STAND ON IT TO DOWNSHIFT AND GET THE RPMS UP TO REDUCE THE EXHAUST TEMP. SOMETIMES IT WORKS NORMAL, SOMETIMES IT DOESENT. ANY IDEAS GUYS ?
Sounds like to me your turbo is in need of a serious cleaning. And maybe a rebuild and/or unison ring. Those are the mechanical issues. The solenoid that positions the vanes can be bad or malfunctioning. Are you changing oil at prescribed intervals (or other intervals based on using remote filtration)? Type of oil? Motorcraft filters?
You may do a bit better posting this in the 6.0 forum, but those are the basics. Other mods you've done to the engine will help diagnose problems as well. I'd also get through the 6.0L tech folder:
