Massive Oil Leak

So after the fiasco that was bending a pushrod and changing out the turbo, pedestal, turbo housing, gutted ebpv fitting and the UVCH on the passenger side, when I got everything back together, I was good to go. Except I had a substantial oil leak. The turbo work was easily the least exciting thing I've done on any vehicle before. I have been putting it off tearing back into it because it is my daily and the longest I can be done is a weekend with it, and I just bought a house and was moving. Now that I'm all settled in, I need to tackle this issue before summer hits and it's 120 outside.

As I mentioned, I replaced everything. The turbo is a stock but good shape low mileage turbo with a new wicked wheel, the turbo housing is a 1.0 housing, the ebpv is gutted and freeze plugged, the housing and epbv fitting are both ceramic coated black and I swapped the pedestal with a different one because I cut the shaft for the epbv on the one I pulled out because I couldn't get to one of the bolts. I replaced the o rings with the ones I got from riff Raff as well. I also replaced the mechanical fuel pump as well. The first time I went to put the new turbo assembly back in, I noticed one of the o rings for the pedestal slipped off so I put it back in place and tried it again. It appeared that I got it the second time and I moved on with tightening everything down.

When I went to start it, it started right up. Never seen it fire that quickly. It smoked a bit as expected, and I drove it for about 25 miles and it cleared up a lot. The next day it had pretty much cleared completely. But, I had a substantial oil leak. I had a good oil leak before the work but not this bad. I currently leak probably 4 quarts every week and a half to 2 weeks.

Do the pedestal o rings cause this bad of a leak, or could this be my hpop? Haven't tried looking ultra hard but the back of the valley has oil for sure and it leaks all over the starter and side of my oil pan. I have read about getting a tracer dye to make sure it's coming from where I think it's coming from. So I will probably do that. I was really wanting to do e fuel conversion but unfortunately I don't think I have the time in a single weekend to pull all the turbo stuff back out and also do the whole fuel conversion.

Opposite ends of the motor. If there is oil under the pedestal then its probably that O ring. If the hpop was leaking it will fill the first low spot and when that overflows the second and then under the pedestal. The best thing you can do is clean everything up and keep checking what end of the motor gets oil in the valley first.

Yeah I know the hpop is up front but I was just curious if anything on the hpop could be leaking as bad as I'm describing, or if an o ring not in at all or not in correctly it could. I'm also wondering if the hole where the shaft for the EBPV comes out could leak that much too. I haven't read anywhere where people have had a massive leak coming from there so I doubt it but just wondering.

Yeah, I know you knew that, I'm just saying that there are three pooling area's in the valley. I had a O ring missing on one of my hpop line that connects to the pump and after three hundred miles would fill all three spots in the valley then flow down the back of the motor.

I wish I had the time for e fuel and pulling the turbo back out in the same weekend, so I can see the valley better. I did put all new hardware with anti seize in so hopefully that will save a bunch of time fighting corossion. And I still have the tools I modified to get to some of the hard stuff. But I get you. I'm planning on looking into it this week and seeing if I can pinpoint it for sure. I'm assuming it is the o ring on the pedestal because it slipped completely out of the indentation for it the first time I slid the turbo in place. So most likely it didn't seat right the second one I'm or fell out and I didn't notice. I already ordered new o rings from riff Raff just in case. Probably get to it next weekend cause I'll probably work this coming weekend.
