This IS The MARCH Right In Here and Yack Thread

So I am slightly lost. Since I come from the Midwest the closings in Maryland make little sense to me. Why do schools close with a dusting of snow? I can understand today’s winds sort of. Otherwise my kids have had 5 “snow” days during which only one day was there actual snow. This is just very confusing. Also what’s with the drivers here who have no clue how to merge on the expressway? So hopefully everyone was safe today.

LOL I drive everywhere in MD and I always hate driving south of 32 for that exact reason. Best just to be patient and prepare for them to come over even if they don't, not worth time and headache with accident plenty of experience on that. Maryland was just ranked top 10 worst drivers, I think we were 3rd worst in USA

Howdy world.... The wind continues to blow here so I'm gonna wait until tomorrow to go out and pick up the pieces of my trees laying in the yard.
Confused about MD school closings and drivers, Ben? I've been trying to figure it out since I moved here in 1975! Welcome to the club.

Yeah Bud I am very confused. Drove to Baltimore today and everyone stays in the right lanes. Someone trying to merge the guy in the first right lane doesn’t slow down or speed up to let you in they seem to just pace you. In Michigan people move over or they travel in the left lanes instead. I realize a lot of the ramps are short here and everyone seems to do 20 over but geez they could learn to not drive like jackasses. School closings are just as bad, I do not understand how the state mandates school start after Labor Day but end no later than June 15. That’s stupid, Michigan has done the start after Labor Day thing since I was in high school and it does not help tourism and it really doesn’t help with AC usage because the year just ends later. So yeah I have no clue to the school system here. Since I live in Howard County I must miss something because not once this year have the roads near me been bad enough to close school unless you have no ability to keep a car in your lane. It’s comical in some sense because my kids old district has had one snow day and that was the day after a weekend of 16 inches.

Good morning , Md. The further south you live the worse it gets. as funny as it sounds, we don't see as much snow as the northern neighbors, add unskilled drivers, too many drivers on the road and way too many ambulance chasers looking for a lawsuit. I'm a school teacher, I understand. there are built in makeup days now, we lost most of our school break to make up days. The kids always want snow days, I tell them it's like deferring a loan payment, it doesn't go away. We had a bus accident a couple years ago which makes the district think twice.

Morning world....hope everyone now has electricity here on the east coast. I know not everyone in MD does NOT! Some were told in might towards the end of THIS week before it is restored.
