We have a wooden floor in the bedroom and it has a small area that got damaged by liquid or something. It was covered at the time, and we didn't notice. It's only about 6 inches by 2 feet or so.
The floor could use sanding and the rest -- although not urgently, but that's a problem. Not the money -- it's just a problem.
The sides of the 2 boards are lifting slightly, and I wondered what I dould do to keep it from getting totally ruined in that spot. I'll slide in a pic if I can.

Did you put the floor down or was it there when you moved in? If you put it down and have extra, you can cut out the bad pieces and replace them. I had to do this once. I put down red oak flooring in our living room and a year or so later a spring broke through the bottom of the love seat and gouged the floor bad. Not a fun job but doable if you're careful.
It will not get any worse. Real hard to see image but from what I can see it is either from a plant or a pet stain. When you sand entire entire room if the spot is light( not too deep) it will sand out however if it is cupping already then plan on getting some new boards. Looks like 2" strip, which is an easy repair. Are you doing the sanding yourself? I advise against it. I've been doing this for 38 yrs btw. Ill pm my # if you need more pointers.
Thanks guys. Hanklin that was just the kind of advice I was looking for. No, I won't be doing it myself -- I know my limitations.
