Sizes?

can anyone recommend the correct size for the spark plugs and spark plug wires? It doesn’t seem like there is a standard, I’ve read about 7 and 8mm wires and different spark plug sizes. Which is the best to use for a 360 FE in a 69’ F100?

After reading the threads recently, I haven’t found a good answer either. Most I’ve seen have been the cut to length, or order custom sizes which can be pricy. I’d love to know if there’s a ready to go kit that’s also affordable. I’m just tired of my wires looking sloppy cause they are all too long

It’s like you all were reading my mind. Guess I’ll hang out and hope someone educates us.

Get whatever fits.

Bigger wires are for more power. But a stock 360 doesn't need race car stuff.

Get whatever autolite plugs it needs.

First off, do you still use the points and condenser system or do you have an electronic dist. system. Also do you still use the stock coil or do you have a higher voltage one? These questions matter because the points system with stock coil doesn't run as high of voltage as the newer types can, If you have the stock stuff you don't need 9 or 10 MM plug wires, and the standard Autolite or Champion sparks will work. The higher coils and electronic dist systems put a longer lasting voltage spark into the wires and plugs. The plug gap and be opened up between .045 and .060( bigger gap basicly a better burn in the cylinder). Also the electrode coating makes a difference in the hotter systems too. I think Iriudim is the top dog now. I still run the standard BF-32B plugs and I cut the Accel 9MM wires to length myself. I have an electronic dist and a hotter coil- runs fine-.

Yes, I still do use the condenser and point in the distributer. The coil appears to be the stock 12v coil.

Three-wire bundle coming from the firewall, one wire to the coil, one from the oil pressure sender, one wire from the coolant temperature sender.

Most likely that coil needs to be turned right-side -up. If it's filled with oil, the coil will start to leak and go bad.

Might have been a security kill switch.

Looks like you are running an A/C compressor there. That might make it impossible to turn your Coil "right side up".

Also, one of the wires in that area should come through the firewall and control the A/C clutch.

buy the cut to fit NAME BRAND wires , i prefer 8mm
the pre cut ones are always way to long and end up looking like garbage with crazy excess wire .

Any suggestion on which cut to fit wires to buy? I've never cut my own plug wires before, is the process simple?

I have to say I never had good luck with the cut to fit. I always ended up with an end coming off when ever I tried to remove them, or trying to cram the straight wire into a 90 degree boot. Mike, you must have bought a lot better ones than I tried. I always had good luck with the high quality custom fit wires, not the ones they try to cover 100 applications with one part number.
