What is the deal with the flywheels going out on the 5spd PSD's? I am looking to buy a 96-97PSD 5 spd, a little concerned about this tho, is there anything to look for? What exactly is the problem they have? Thanks for the replies

They are a 2 piece unit that was designed to help remove some of the drivetrain vibrations. They will start rattling at idle and low speed with the clutch engaged, foot off the clutch. They can be replaced with a 1 piece flywheel and clutch.

I just replaced my stock dual mass flywheel with a single mass LUK kit over the weekend. I had 196K miles on my stock flywheel and it has been vibrating pretty bad for about a year now, I just never had the money to replace it till now. There really is no given age or milage where the flywheel will wear out. I've seen trucks that puke their stock one after only 100K but on the other hand I know some still on their stock one well over 200K. I'm not sure what makes them fail but if you have the truck long enough you can probably plan on having to replace it sometime.
