First thing that comes to mind, on tirerack, You can filter by "Severe Snow Rated" and think I only remember seeing 8 or so of them. The BFG KO/2s are one of them, I think Thats what I'm aiming for when I upgrade. I haven't had the chance to test anything besides my stock A/Ss
I run the Cooper AT/W tires here....winter rated all season tire with I think 85,000km tread wear warranty. Great snow traction, good road manners, great rain/wet handling.
Year round, gravel roads, hauling, ice, snow all the **** a truck endures up here, but I drive less than 8,000 miles a year. So whatever I buy will dry rot before there used up. Leaning towards a few, falken wildpeak at3w (heavy tire), duratracs, ko2, Toyo open country at
I really liked the duratracs I had on my last truck. Only ran them for maybe 15 or 20 thousand miles. They wore great but they do start to get a little nosier as they age. They still had over half tread life left when I sold the truck. They were my fall hunting and winter set.
No. I have used a number of sets of Duratracs though over the years. Currently have studded Duratracs on my plow truck and studded Cooper M&S for my daily driver.
i have duratracks now , and hate them. Wore very fast
they do tend to wear fast. They are excellent for plowing though (I think). I just use mine in the winter. When they do get too worn for plowing, i just use them as a summer tire.
I just bought the Falken AT3W's for my F-250 about a week ago. They balanced well and ride very smooth down the road in the little driving experience I have had with them. I am in Idaho and this morning we had about 1-2 inches of snow on the road. Normally I have to flip to 4 wheel drive to get up the snow hill behind the house, but today I had no problem in 2 wheel drive. They seem to grip very good on the snow and ice, much better than my old Firestone AT's.
I have about 2k miles on my falken wild peaks at3w’s. They are excellent in snow, mud and rain and have very little road noise. They balance good too with very little weight needed.
I use the Cooper A/TW on my 2wd Dually they are incredible in snow, ice, packed snow, wet and of course dry roads. I tow fairly heavy through the Colorado Rockies and their road manners are very good. I will buy these again when mine wear out. A buddy with a 4x4 Dually switched to these after seeing how well my truck does in the snow. He's been shocked how much better his truck handles the snow and ice here in Colorado.
