atf transfer case
2001 f250 stock automatic transmission
going to put Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF a multi-vehicle formula or Schaeffer Manufacturing Co. 0204SAT-006S All-Trans Supreme in stock transmission......good idea or bad idea?
On the transfer case what should I use......I have read about 5 thousand postings on several forums(I may have missed the one I should have read) some of them are very old
What is the current say so on using ATF in transfer case( IE one of the above) I think everyone is saying now use XL-12 from ford? Did something change in mobil 1 synthetic around the time xl 12 came out? I have been reading about people using mobil 1 syn in their transfer case for a decade now with evidently no problems so is it chemically different now?

I always use the cheap Walmart brand ATF in my transfer cases, never had an issue. You can use the more expensive stuff if you want to, but it is a waste of money in my opinion, transfer cases aren't that picky.

Get the Ford stuff for the transfer case. You only need 2 qrts. do NOT USE MERCON V IN THE TRANSFER CASE.
