So I just put in new stage 1s from Rosewood and really feel the power increase. Trouble is now when I romp on it, feels like clutch slips some in 5th gear. Is this something I need to address with a better clutch and if so which one? Have any of you guys had similar experience?
I just installed the Luk clutch. I just re surfaced my flywheel and installed the Luk clutch. I am very pleased with it so far. I feel like I have some more gear roll over noise now. Not sure why, but it is there. It shifts very well and feels very nice
I have no history on the truck and know nothing about the clutch. Plan to be towing ~8K so the slipping is concerning. It never happened until I put in the stage1s. Boost hits 20+ now when I romped on it but doesn't slip when driven "normal".
I would eventually like to be in the 400hp range. I was wondering, have any of you noticed clutch issues with your power upgrades or is my clutch just wearing out? I've changed a few in my hot rod gasser days but never one of this scale. Is this something I can do alone in my barn? I'm thinking it shouldn't be much different than a 65 Mustang clutch, just bigger?

Same concept as any clutch really. Just much larger than You’re used to. A trans jack will help a lot. I would look at upgrading your clutch now. If it’s slipping under power without a load, it’s only going to get worse.
Check out how they are constructed. They are garbage.
Stage 1's easily break through the DMF even when its good.
Gear rollover is deadened by the DMF. The rollover sound is the vibration of the gears from the vibration of the engine which is stopped by the DMF with all its clutches and springs in the flywheel. After the springs on the clutch plate break in, the noise goes away for the most part. Most of us throw an extra qt of oil in the trans to help with this.
Most of us run the kevlar/ceramic. It has a 500 mile break in though due to the kevlar buttons, but it will keep your flywheel from getting chewed up so when its time for a new clutch, you just need a clutch and pressure plate and can re-use the old flywheel without resurfacing.
Mine started slipping in 5th as well. I still had the worn out dmf so I swapped to out to a smf kit from southbend and no complaints so far. I put a southbend in my other truck as well because I was happy with the first one and it's what my local small town shop sells and says he never really had any come back with issues like the LUK brand. I personally don't have any experience with those ones tho and some members on here really like them.

How are street and towing manners with that setup? I was looking at South Bends Level 3 with Feramic on one side and Organic on the other.
So if I get new bellowed up pipes, 3" downpipe with 4" exhaust (open pipe), 6637 intake, stage1s with 6 position tuner, what kind of hp would I be around so I'll know what clutch? Would I be getting close to 400?
