1972 300 i6 4 speed tranny on to a 302?
I want to put a manual transmission on my truck. I have a 1972 ranger xlt with a automatic 302 on it. My transmission is going and I want to replace it with a manual transmission. It’s hard to find the right part around where I live. But I found a 300 i6 4 speed. Would something like that work on my truck?

FOUR possible 4 speeds: New Process 435 (1965/89), Warner T-18 (1965/89); RUG SR-OD Single Rail with Overdrive (1978/83); RTS TS-OD Top Shift with Overdrive (1984/87).

Where is reverse, up towards the dash (Warner T-18) or down towards the seat (NP435).
Circa 1973, the T-18's shaft pattern changed, it's the same as the NP435.
T-18 shift lever retainer cap threads off/on. NP435 shift lever retainer cap has two notches, it's retained to the tower with two pins.
