Just so you know; your bed doesn't match. Your bed looks like it came off a 1967 truck, or someone filled the holes the reflectors mount to. A proper 1971 bed would have rear side marker lights, and rear facing reflectors below the taillights.

Thats fine, I have been called many things but never a purist. I have had everything from ****** to Jeeps to musclecars to Chevy trucks and not a one was safe from a torch, cutting wheel or Plasma cutter. Its old... its simple... its sturdy... I dig it.

The only problem would be if your local government inspects vehicles, but it looks like you are in South Dakota, and don't have vehicle inspections.

The lights and reflectors are federal requirements for your model year that would fail an inspection in places that check that stuff.

I just love it when someone shares their latest project and somebody starts pointing things out that aren't "correct" or something else is wrong with it. Can't we just congratulate people and share in their excitement about their truck without being critical?

Nice truck to start on. Welcome to the Forum. Looks like you have some of the engine stuff loaded in the back already.

In the back is a lot of firebird parts! All the truck parts are in the cab. New almost everything. I have a engine for it already so it should be drivable in a weekend or two. I also find it funny that a make of a vehicle was edited out of one of my posts

The 8' Styleside bed is essentially the same 1967/72. The difference is the marker reflectors and marker lamps used on the sides of 1970/72.

Some trucks have a 25 gallon auxiliary fuel tank, with the filler neck/fuel cap located on the left (drivers) side.

Fuel filler tube/fuel cap: 1967/69: Located above the scallop (bumpside) line. 1970/72: Located below the scallop line.

I took it just as pointing out information that may not be known. Not as criticism

Thumbs up White truck

Just curious, was that truck set up to run on propane? I am talking about what looks like a fuel door on the right side or was that for an extra gas tank.
Which engine did it have? Manual or automatic ? Looks like it has a lot of life left in it. Good luck

It could be a "Franken (stein)" truck of many parts which could only affect getting the proper parts needed, but still look good. It is just more a case of being able to get the right parts. Check that the metal rating plate vin tag on the driver's door matches the safety certification sticker vin on the driver's door pillar and the vin stamped on the top of the right frame rail under the passenger door. Does the right side metal door open for a gas cap? It would be for an aftermarket gas tank. Check to see if the tank is inside the frame or outside the frame. Outside the frame is bad ala Chevy tanks.

Probably outside, because the exhaust runs down the passenger side of the frame.
