BAD WATER LEAK
This morning 6am i walk out to the truck and open the door only to hear the blower motor running ! Surprised with the key in my hand i was shocked to hear it running.
Look at the floor board and my husky floor mats are like a lake. Full of water ! The passenger side also.
Rewind back 3 years .... My windshield molding started curling up at the corners. Then along the top where the mold meets the roof. I pumped RTV in the seam and made a big ( Very nice looking ) bead along the joint also. It looked really nice and was supposed to be a temporary fix.
So life goes on and i forgot about it. Well i started to notice about a year ago the paint bubbling up. in a spot from rust. under the paint. UHHHHH !
I looked toady and noticed a pice of paint right in the center of the molding about the size of my thumb nail flaked off taking the RTV with it. Allowing water to intrude all weekend causing the flood inside.
Truck fired up and everything is working to my knowledge. The ABS light stayed on on the way to work and was on during my lunch commute. The blower for the hvac would still run with the key off and out of the ignition.
Leaving work on the way home ABS light was out. When i got home and shut the truck off the HVAC blower would still run with the key out. I could also hear something clicking on and off under the hood and at my AC controls even with the hvac in the off position.
Traced the clicking to a relay under the hood. Its the relay running parallel to the fuse box under the hood. I pulled both in that box out and it quit.
I got the lower dash panel removed with a fan blowing in there tonight. Hopefully that will help dry out the GEM which i imaging got wet.
Test in the morning to see if that cured it.
Contacted my paint and body guy and hopefully will get it repaired this weekend or next weekend.
Any thoughts on the GEM getting wet and long term effects ? Are they simple to pull out if need be ?
Hopefully yours isn't too corroded but would pull it and take a look anyway.
Not sure if a windshield can be pulled and cleaned and resealed or if it's better just to get a new one. Either way my guess is you should consider it after your body guy gets through with the repairs. He may have to pull out to repair it anyway. Guess you'll know in a couple of days.
He will indeed need to pull the windshield. It has been hit with 2 rocks on the highway and i will replace it. Also ordered new motorcraft molding.

Hopefully yours won't be anything like that.
Next time i need a windshield think I'll pay a little extra and get the one with super duty across the top. Looks good
