Crazy miles
I did a tune up on one of the farm trucks at the turf farm where my grandpa works. It's a 94 F150 with the 4.9 and 5 spd. Its fairly rusty and beat to hell body wise. They used to use it to run around and get parts, sometimes all the way to different states. Nowadays its got a fuel tank and toolboxes and they use it to drive from field to field.
It started to run a little rough so I decided to give it a little love. Put new plugs, wires, rotor and distributor cap, air filter, as well as an oil change with 5w-40 and zinc additive. Changed the transmission fluid with some nice mercon ATF. Also I'm in the process of fixing a few minor exhaust leaks. All just to make the truck a little more pleasant to drive - every time I come to help out on the farm I drive this truck. This thing has always been a dream to drive and while the body make look dirty, beat up, and unsafe at any speed mechanically the truck is very sound.
Oh also, this big six has 430K on the clock!! Craziest thing is after this tune up and much needed TLC I swear the truck runs like brand new. Amazed at the 300's reliability - gramps said they've never been into the motor. I love driving this truck - for a farm application its got plenty of power and is dead nuts reliable.
