I have a dual battery system and I need to identify the battery isolator that separates the starter battery from the auxiliary battery. Can anyone point me to a location and maybe a pic of this isolator please? I can't seem to determine it's location or what it looks like.
This is a 2007 e350 extended shuttle van that had a wheelchair lift. The aux battery is on the passenger side just under the wheelchair entry about mid ways of the chasis, but I have yet to determine where the isolator is located.
My 07 E350 has factory dual battery and the relay is down low on the side near the main battery. Looks just like an old starter “solenoid” (actually relay)
yours undoubtedly has has lots of aftermarket stuff. So you should be very thorough and careful.
Engine? On my old van, there was a solenoid under the batter tray.
I have the V8 5.4 gas engine. This van was one that was outfitted by Braun as a passenger van with a wheelchair lift. Looks like the one pictured below.

I found what looks like an old ford starter solenoid just as you describe, and it's right under the battery tray, but I only get 12V on one side. I can't get any voltage measurement on the opposite side, even when running.
Shouldn't the relay be closed and measuring voltage when the van is running so that it sends a charge to the auxiliary battery? Is it possible that this is simply a starter relay and not the isolator relay?
Maybe I'm not understanding how the voltage should read on it, but maybe someone can shed some additional light on what I should see when reading the voltage on each side of the relay and when that voltage should appear?

assuming yours is the same as mine (and it may not be, since yours has lots of aftermarket stuff), then yes it should have voltage on both sides when running.
I learned (the hard way) that there’s a diode and a fuse under the hood and a fuse in the passenger compartment and another relay under the hood. All of which come BEFORE the relay you are talking about.
