Negative Ground

Wondering when Ford went to Negative Ground on the F1. I have a '51, it's negative, but my shop manual shows the ground as positive.

Ford trucks were positive ground until 1956. 1956 was also the year they went to a 12 volt system.

Appreciate it. That explains the shop manual. My rig is converted to 12-volt, negative ground.

Good evening from Alabama,
Ii have a 1990 F150 with 92k on it. Several things are giving the sign of a bad ground. My door dinger is real phant, if I roll both widows up at the same time the engine shuts off. And finally if I run the fan motor on the truck for the AC/defrost the truck cuts in and out. Besides that she runs amazing.

You are asking this question in the wrong forum, this is the 1948/56 forum. You want the 1987/96 F150 and larger F series truck forum.
