2001 Ford F-350 Super Duty w/V-10 . Ran sea foam through the oil & the gas tank . Then had the oil changed. Went to make a couple runs pulling the trailer and delivering and picking up 2 different cars. Before I even started out it had gone through 4 quarts of oil since the oil change. Anyone got any suggestions, or answers for me ?
What weight oil did you use. Last oil change i put in 5-30 motorcraft semi-syn check oil 1000 miles later and had to add 5qts so went back to 10-30. Oil use was alot less with it.

Told them 5w30 Wasn't Motorcraft though. It was the same oil they put into my daily driver . Thinking it's a FS brand motor oil.
Are you sure the people that changed the oil filled it properly?
Oh yeah . Know the owner for many , many years . What I'm thinking is that I'm gonna bring in my own oil. I understand that certain oils stay in these V-10s better . Also . My mechanic friend says that I may need to look at the crankcase vent system a little closer . I dunno if it has a PCV or not , I may just change it out if it's got 1.
For years the auto manufacturers have been designing engines to accept lower viscosity oil and specing said oil to obtain slightly improved MPG's. Bought a 2005 dodge right off the showroom floor in 2005, used their 10w30 oil religiously for 3 years, went through 1 quart every 1000 miles and wiped out the cat converter. Decided to go with 10w40 and 13 years later I am still driving it with 301,000 miles on the clock with minimal oil consumption. I would try a good 10w40 on your 2001.
seafoam could have removed sludge around piston grooves and now more oil blow by is happening.
weather permitting, try a higher viscosity oil like 5W40 or 10W40. check your manual to see what the temp ranges are for the oil and go with the highest hot viscosity for the temp range. i.e. 10w30 would not be much better than 5w30 but 5w40 would be thicker.
so yes,, ring grooves, valve stems, stem seals, etc

Used about the same amount during the drive back to Illinois. Used about a case of 20/50. Thinking about trying some Marvel Mystery oil about a week before I have it changed again. Then definitely changing the oil brands.
Do any of you have a oil brand preference ? I've kinda leaned towards Pennzoil for years , but in this application I can move to Motorcraft , Castrol , or something else if need be.
