Another failed TPMS sensor...my third one.

I have 15,000 miles on my 2017.

Gotta take it in again for my third failed sensor.

I’ve never had problems like this with previous Ford’s (or other manufacturers for that matter) TPMS sensors.

Does anyone have an idea why I’m having so many problems?

These are factory OEM sensors on original factory wheels with the same Michelin tires the truck had installed at delivery.

Thanks guys.

At 12k they didn't bother with replacing two bad ones they just replaced all 4.

P.S. My truck was made on halloween 2016.

Wonder if I somehow got a bad batch of sensors. My build date was aug 2017.

What warning message are you getting? Is it the one about tire pressure monitor fault?
I had problems with a 2014 F250. Dealer changed all the sensors. First only one, and then the rest. Still no joy. Then they thought it was the BCM and replaced that. Nope. Glad it was all warranty work.
After some research on the FTE pages I discovered it to be a cheapo USB 12V charger (the kind you see in convenience stores) that the iPhone was plugged into. Caused some kind of signal interference between the sensors and the BCM.
Removed it and got a dedicated charge cord like the kind that comes from the factory with a device like a Garmin or many other electronic devices. End of problem. The dealer had never heard of such a thing. But it turns out from these pages that many other dealers had.

Thank you for those ideas. I really appreciate it.

I am getting a Tire pressure sensor failed warning.

The dealership keeps asking me if I have something plugged in like a blue tooth device that we would use to monitor exhaust temps or regen status. I don’t.

They asked if I have been using a iPhone charger plugged into one of the ports. Nope.

They asked if I have a video system for my kids plugged into the back seat outlet. Nope.

The dealership even warned that if I was using items like this the repairs would not be covered under warranty.

Even if I did have those things in use (like I have in about a dozen other vehicles with no tpms issues) I shouldn’t get this warning. Guys hook up all kinds of crazy electronic devices to their truck without issues like this. This is what trucks are for. Attach stuff and get things done. If our trucks were to remain stock then why add upfitter switches or offer a bunch of places to plug things in.

Agreed. It is 2018 after all. Almost everyone has a plethora of electronic devices on their person, plugged into their vehicles, etc. Ford should have a way around this stuff.

For clarification - I don't think my TPMS issues had anything to do with interference. First time was 3 hours into a 5 hour trip - front right told me I was losing air. Emergency stop found no tire problem. Problem persisted until the end of trip. Next day, 3 hours into return leg same issue. Didn't see issue again until a few weeks later same sensor went totally dead. Shop found another they could not read so replaced all 4.

I replaced the driver side front sensor at 6000 miles I hope it's not going to be a recurring problem.

My first TPMS problems with my 2014 happened much this same way. The offending charger had been in use for some time. I got about 70 miles from home when the fun started with TPMS warnings.
I also got out and checked all the tires because on the 2014 the cluster didn't have tire specific readings. You got a general warning about tire pressure and had to check them all.
Then it became sporadic. Then more often to the point that I ignored it for a while before I took the truck in to a dealer. I finally discovered the interference problem and removed the offending USB charger.

I think I am having the same issue. What are the symptoms? Have your sensors just died or did they start off with bad readings?

The dash is telling me that I have one wheel that is slowly loosing pressure 1 psi per day. But every time I check with a gauge it reads fine and all the other wheels are close to what the dash is telling me. Is this how the failure starts?

It's annoying, because I keep worrying that I have a nail or something in the tire and feel the need to check the pressure every few days.

My warning says something like "Bad TPMS Sensor". When I go to look at tire pressures that tire doesn't register.

On friday as I was on a 250 mile drive the sensor gave me a warning and it would show the 'tire dummy light' on the dash for about 30 miles and then it would go away. I would then check the pressures and that tire would show perfect pressure. Then another 20 miles I would get the same warning again on the same tire/location. Then it would go away. It repeated this 3 times. But now it just won't read and it's been this way for the past 200 miles.

I need a loaner so I have to wait for 2 weeks to get my truck in otherwise I have to rent my own car.

I was rolling north on I-75 toward Atlanta pulling a horse trailer. Sudden alert showed my front right was at 50 lb. Seconds later 40 lb. Continued down to about 20 lb. I hit an exit and I was shocked there was an Orileys and a tire shop right there! Anyway checked the tire and it was fine. From that point the pressure went up and down. We joked Ford found a way to self inflate tires also. Next morning all seemed fine but going south on I-75 again about 3 hours in - same thing. Once home the problem disappeared but never drove anywhere but around town. Several weeks later got in truck one morning and TPMS alert showed no reading on front right. The only thing we have plugged in on truck is a dedicated radar detector. No more issues after all have been replaced. So far.
