I suspect it must have been discussed here, however entering the subject service bulletin number in the search feature produced no results. My wife's son who installed my snow plow sent it to me. The bulletin addresses electrical problems associated with times of high electrical draws such as snow plow operation.

My gasser was built in October 2017, bought it off the lot in November, and have plowed several times since then, both night and day, with no problems. And I normally am running the heater, defroster ,heated seats and lights in snowstorms while plowing, you think?? I would love to know what was involved in the resolution steps, and am hoping my truck never experiences some of the problems I read on a thread from last winter plowing season. I was horrified to read that a 2017 model truck could not handle the electrical loads of plows that have been pushed by trucks from the last century without any problems !!! The fact that owners had to power off some of their winter electrics to run their plows was astounding to me. Ford needs to expand it's proving grounds routines imho.

I would expect (hope) it's some type electronic glitch. As you mentioned, snow plows on pick up trucks are nothing new. I've only plowed one little storm, no issues, mine was built November 2017. I'd be interested to know how wide spread the problem is, and if any members here have been affected.

Its not that the truck can't handle it, it that the computer did not know how to deal with the high demand of the plow motor. A simple software update corrects the issue. I have a February built truck that I updated well before the first snow and I have never had an issue. If your truck falls after the cutoff date then you will never have an issue

Perfect, just as I suspected. That's the answer I was looking for. Thank you.

rwillmo, thanks for the info. I am curious as to where you got the resolution details, and if it was simply a software enhancement, that is great . Like I noted, mine has plowed like a champ with no issues!

Is there a way to find out when the engine was built?

You really want the vehicle build date...all the firmware and module configurations are flashed in right before the truck is driven off the end of line.
Call your dealer and ask the Service Advisor to send you (emailable) OASIS Report on your truck. It has all the key dates and other good info.
If you just want month and year built, just look at driver door sticker, the white one.

I own a repair shop that specializes in Ford vehicles so we pay for the technical info each month. We also have a Ford IDS, so I update my own vehicles.
Well mine and my friend's both did it on this last storm. Radio and dash light would quit when the plow reached full angle. What's interesting is that I plowed in early morning with all the auxiliary lights on without issue. In the afternoon is when in acted up. Both trucks are outside of the build date criteria. Wondering if I should wait for another storm before contacting the dealer?
My truck and my friend's truck are still doing this. Anybody else? It's scheduled to go in for the block heater recall. I will have them look at this issue, again.
