people with X/B code combo

I'm thinking about doing a modified X code up front and B code and the back with f350 blocks front and rear if I put a 2 inch shackle up front will that level it.
Also what shocks would be a good combo with this other than bilstein's

Slow down, you are all mixed up from the sound of that post.
V and X codes are both front springs.
F-350s have 4"-ish blocks on the rear only, vs our 2"-ish Ex factory blocks.
NEVER install lift blocks on the front!

What mod exactly are you thinking about for the front X codes?
How much lift are you hoping to get front/rear with these spring mods and swaps?

I was editing and took the wrong code out. X and b.
Tyre f350 has a taller block on the front from the factory so there can be no harm using them on the Ex. ok hoping for 4.5-6in

OK, easy mix up with the many codes.
The one ton pickups do not run lift blocks on the front axles, they have the heavier front springs from the factory, that's what accounts for their higher ride height. Here in PA any lift block on the front leaf springs will fail state safety inspection.
Once you go over 4" or so on the front you should consider a drop pitman arm and track bar drop bracket.

But for that matter I should be able to use the F-350 pitman arm and F 350 track bar since there will be the same steering geometry

No, they will be the same units as the EX has. You will only need to look at dropped components when going over 4" of lift on an EX, adding SD front springs, even with an additional leaf on X codes like mine only provides 4" over stock.
If you go with a front pack of modded X codes AND a set of drop hangars and shackles, then you are over that 4" threshold and should be looking at a drop pitman and track bar mount.

how much extra height did the add a leaf give you because if I go with a drop shackle for the front leaf I won't sacrifice ride like an add a leaf will do

If I recall correctly a set of new X codes should lift a 6.8 EX 2.77", my mod of adding the top overload leaf from the rear B codes gave my EX 3.875" of ride height increase over stock.

So when you were modding the B codes you took the B code over load moved it to the front to the X codes and that netted almost 4in lift in the front. Right?
How much lift did you get in the rear with the b codes? Did you use Ex rear blocks or f350 single axle rear blocks?

I'll get a little less lift being mine is a 7.3l

Yes, my fronts are OEM X codes with the top overload from a set of rear B codes added to them, the overload has to come off the B codes to prevent rear AC line damage.
My rear setup is OEM B codes modded with the bottom two shortest leaves from the EX pack and the thicker EX between leaf spacers. I then cut my factory EX traction bar into sections and added two sections to each spring pack bolted to the bottom of the B codes. I swapped my factory EX blocks for a set of the F-350 tapered 4"-ish blocks. The end result was about 5" of lift in the rear, my full measurements are on the first page of the suspension mods thread.

I'm using the adjustable Rancho RS9000XLs designed for a 4" lifted EX, many others here with similar setups use the Bilstien shocks.

I'm curious about the ride quality of this suspension mod. Seems like it would be stiff and harsh in the front compared to stock. I just bought an '01 6.8 EX to compliment my '00 F350 7.3 truck that I drive for work every day. One ton trucks unloaded are a rough ride! I'm wanting to lift (or at lease level) my EX but maintain the softer ride quality and clear 35's. Any experience with this suspension setup compared to say the Skyjacker or Pro-Comp 4" lift kits in terms of ride and drivability? The appeal to me in purchasing a pre made kit is that it comes with the track bar relocate bracket, drop pitman arm, sway bar links, U bolts and leaf springs ready to bolt in. Once you buy all these additional items to correct your geometry have you really saved much $$?

6+ years with this setup and so far no complaints of a harsh ride, it is more firm than the stock ride which was too apt to bottom out on larger bumps, non of that now.
Buy what you want, but 35"s fit fine with 4" of lift and that amount of lift does not require dropped pitmans and track bars. Remember, the EX starts off 2" lower than a pickup, so lifting one 4" is only 2" over stock for a Super Duty which wouldn't need the dropped pitman and track bar either.
I saved plenty over a full kit, my spring were free and new custom made U bolts were $69.
Also remember, springs support the vehicle weight and load, shocks control and dictate the ride quality.

I can get a set of X codes and a set of B codes with F-350 rear blocks for only $150 locally. That's quite a bit cheaper than pre-built kits. Sure you could throw some nice Rancho or Bilstein shocks on it and bring the price up another $300 but the pre-built kits won't have those shocks either.
plus you could use the F-350 rear blocks like I plan and shackles up front and get a $100 adjustable track bar and $50 for the drop bracket kit.
So
$150 springs
$300 shocks
$100 track bar
$ 50 track bar drop bracket
$ 60 bolts and nuts
$660 for 6in of spring lift with quality shocks vs $1000+ for a pre-built kit

Or a 4in kit for $450 with nice shocks
