i just got my engine back in the truck after rebuilding it and it wont start. it will fire but wont start. i have had the distributer in every way imaginable ( its in time i checked it with a light) and i took the front cover off to make sure i had the timing marks lined up and everything is good. is there anything that could be causing this like manifold leak or vacume leak, injectors??. here is what i did to the engine
bored .30
new pistons
mild head port
new cam (crane p/n 443901)
and took the air pump junk off
any ideas would be appreciated
also it back fire thru the throttle body
its a 351 cam @ .50 204 and 216 456 and 484 lift 112 deg lobe seperation
the dist is bang on unless the balancer i got from the wreckers has the timing marks in diff spots even tho its from a 351 EFI

douyble check your fireing order make shure you dont have some plug wire crossed and check your cam card for the fireing order it could be 302 or 351 fire order. DW
Checked with summit online catalog and cam is for 351. Hope it wasnt boxed wrong. 302 cam wont work in 351. Not trying to be a smart-a#$ but dist rotation is counter clockwise. also be sure dist rotor pointing to #1 plug wire at tdc of compression stroke, not on exhaust stroke.
that small of a cam shouldn't be a problem but who knows, and by the way 302 cams and 351W cam will interchange especialy the older ones, the late modle 5.0's went to the 351W fireing order but if the cam the gave you is an older profile it could be ground on a 302 cam stock which would run a 302 fireing order, so you go buy what your cam card says not by what the engine specification says. and as stated above check and see if your valves are all closeing. DW
by the way Mister it wont fit a 302, go to www.cranecams.com and read the specs for this cam, because acording to crane, this cam fits 69'-93' 351W's and 82'-84' 5.0HO's Like i said check the fireing order on the cam card. DW
okay if you shure you dont have a crossed wire and your dist. is in staight, then check your compersion, make shure you valves are not staying open, are you still EFI or did you go carb? DW
