Tried to order an 18 on Monday and they said no dice, they are only taking orders fro the 19's. . Dealer quoted me at least 4k more due to no current incentives or deals.

Got it.
Paying for haul time. Not for standby.
THAT sucks for drivers.

2 problems created by the ELD
1) driver shortage
2) more containers are being routed via rail.
Why? A 3 hour drive from port was typically sent by truck. 3 hour drive there, 3 hours back, 2 hours for unloading/lunch/etc. With ELD introduced you now have to log that 1-2 hours of port load time and all of a sudden the move isn't legal.

Sunken containers are a common thing(where container landing gear just sinks in mud) and just other logistical headaches we don't usually see. Too many containers on rail yards. Bad weather is not helping either. This winter storm coming tomorrow probably not helping....

It goes via truck to Ground Effects facility about a mile down the road from KTP. I agree it adds time, but I would say day(s) not weeks.

Agree. Mine rolled off plant on 3/12 and back to plant on 3/15. Seems reasonable. That’s based on this

I Just ordered a 2018 F-350 6.7 Diesel Crew Dually today. Dealer said had to place order by Thursday April 19th.
Dealer gave me the scheduling paper from ford That states
2018 MY Super Duty Balance Out -- Final orders are due for MY Super Duty on Thursday, April 19. Spec changes and cancellations will be shut off on Thursday, April 19.
I'm in Michigan so not sure if that makes a difference. Also said 8-10 weeks is what he's been seeing for time frame

It took mine about a week once it hit the rails. There are only a few stops on the way. It landed in Milpitas last Wednesday sat on the train till yesterday or today then it landed in Morgan Hill this morning. Now waiting for PDI. Will be picking up the beast tomorrow. Finally!!!! 13 weeks!
