Need serious help please...

I have a 91 eddie bauer when i put it in gear it jumps foward and dies in runs good in N and P just when you put a load on it it wont move or stay running,and with it jacked and running you can go through all the gears just fine but you hit the brakes it shuts off,any ideas,thanks

Sounds like the torque converter is locked up. It should slip when you put it in gear but it's not.

Yeah it dont do nothing but die when i put it in gear,so i need to replace the converter then?thanks for the info rrmike

Need serious help please...

not necesaraly replaceing the converter would solve it, it might be a computer problem or a sensor problem, since the lock-up of the converter is computer controlled. Take it to a trans shop and have it diagnosed!

You can also take it to Autozone and ask them to scan it for you (its free). Then see if you can make sense of the codes. If not, post the codes here.
