A great story, and one that we can all learn from. Hubcaps aren't going to make us a lot of money... Looks like your truck can do the work no matter what the weather.

True about old hubcaps unless they are in great shape. The local scrapper was paying .12 per pound for dirty stainless and .25 per pound for clean stainless. And hubcaps are considered dirty since some have plastic pieces and plain steel on them.

If it weren't for the hubcaps on my bed, this truck would have been in storage for the winter, or until I take it to the body shop for a paint job.

They weren't cheap, and I didn't buy them.

Don't feel bad Abe! My wife and I have taken many road trips just because.....A simple excuse is all that is needed. The main thing is you didn't come out behind. Thank's for the pictures. Us Flatlanders always enjoy seeing trees and Mountains Buy the way, you need one of those RPM gauges that Joe is getting. I promise I will not think less of you for "the other side" purchase

I may be in the minority and ridiculed when I say this, but this $$$ crap nowadays is getting ridiculous. I don't think being "totally vintage" is worth a fraction of what it apparently costs now.

I'd rather put newer cheap stuff and just enjoy my truck(and not be in debt) versus spending every penny I have to be "period correct". All those investment bankers that want to buy a "period correct" rat-rod so they look cool at the Cars and Coffee meet on Sunday can have this for their overpriced-and-totally-fake mancaves/rods along with some $5,000 gas pumps and $3,000 Coca-Cola machines.

$500 for some turning signals...psshhh.

End rant.

I agree! If nobody buys those highly priced NOS Signal Stats the price will come down. Good used ones can be found.

The ultra wealthy make it hard on guys like us who are middle class trying to fix up our vehicles.

All true Abe and Morotbreath, let the super rich drive the prices up and waste their money. These trucks are to be enjoyed, not pampered and not to drive us into the poor house. Just my opinion...

I wholeheartedly agree, especially about some of those shops and man-caves that resemble a Las Vegas Saloon. That's not my kind of shop. I like a shop that reveals DIY skills of the owner, a shop that looks like it's been worked in. But I also know that this hobby is open to people of all income brackets that share a common bond of sorts. To some It's an all or nothing passion, to others it's just coffee money. Some are on limited fixed incomes, others money is no object.
From the extreme to the sublime..........
