I would recommend going with a strut and coil spring assembly all in one unit, like a Monroe or Moog or Gabriel. I am sure there are cheaper brands out there if those are too expensive but quality might be hit or miss.
I was looking at the monroe or blistien brand. Problem i seem to be running into it that most all say for non air ride. Im assuming they mean for the back and not the front. Im want to change out the fronts
I suppose the bilstein's might make the vehicle sit slightly higher in the front compared to the stock setup, so if you have air ride in the rear, the air compressor would run more often to lift the rear to normal ride height.
But if you don't have air suspension in the rear then you don't have to worry about that problem.
I installed Bilsteins on the front and back of my 2007 Navigator. The ride height did not change at all.
I have had Bilsteins on a Ford E150 van and a Corvette. I like these better than any shock I've ever used. I drove the van over 80,000 miles and they were still good when I traded it in.
Also had a set of Monroe and KYBs on a '95 Cougar and both went soft around 10,000 miles. I won't buy them again.
I recently put a set of Tokico blues on the Cougar and like them but have very few miles on them.

03psd73,
I just did the shocks, front and rear. My springs were fine.
I don't trust that all shock assemblies have the same quality of spring as the OEM.
Bilstein front # 24-197717 @ $78. each.

03psd73,
I had a shop install the springs on my shocks because I could not find a consumer grade spring compressor for truck springs.
I didn't really want to deal with compressing those springs either. I have done a few cars with my compressor but it would not fit on the larger diameter coil wire on the Navigator.
Good luck with getting your installation done,
Richard
