Custom frame, Chevy driveline, modified body, fancy wheels, one off interior, super expensive paint - I guess it may still be a truck.

There have been some eye popping prices for stock 50s vintage Caddys and Buicks.

I've gone to BJ most every year for bout 20 years. It's a quick drive. Get two guys wanting the same lot and the bidding can get crazy. And fun to watch. I'd say bidding on this truck got carried away.

Many cars don't look as good in person compared to a low resolution jpeg photographs. I didn't see this truck but the rear axle position doesn't indicate a precision build.

That actually has a Coyote engine and Ford trans, just Vette IFS and Camaro axle. IMO it has none of the charm of a mid-fifty.

For those with great wealth, practicality takes a back seat to desire; the $3.5 million auction of the Batmobile comes to mind. The quest for happiness is like finding the elusive pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. The craving is only temporarily satisfied and the search continues.

I still live in the practical world. The truck in question does not interest me; neither does playing baccarat for $200k a hand in Vegas. However, I reserve the right to change my mind when I become a billionaire.

Very well done and I'm sure not a money maker if the owner paid to have it built , but I agree its lost allot of it's old truck feel . A little less modern interior and some chrome rims would go a long ways IMHO .

My thoughts exactly. I have watched similar builds with more elegance to the original style and actually sold for less. Many of our members
HERE Have some amazing skills and they represent the more traditional styling with modern updates.
It seems the newer generation of builders of the classics have lost the true vision of the word TRUCK and Don't get me started on the RAT ROD!

Someone spent a lot of money building that truck. The Coyote engine is $15 alone. I wonder if they made any money?

I'd be surprised if they come close to breaking even on most of these.

Nice truck, but I cant help but think how many homeless folks could get a hand up with that kind of money. I love nice cars and trucks like the ones that FTE folks put there blood sweat and tears into. I don't know anything about the buyer of this particular truck, maybe he or she saved for years to treat themselves, rite on if that's the case. but what bothers me is multi billionaires that could spend a billion, to house, feed, and educate a whole generation of any of our worst cities that were left to deteriate when our jobs went overseas. I think anyone should be able to drop a billion and live on the remaining billion or so to buy one of every high end car ever produced. Ill get off my soap box now, sorry I know I got really off topic.

high price

I would love to know what these bidders do for a living . I know hundreds if not thousands of people , but only a handful could spend $ 100,000 or more for a toy . The thought that some of these , buy more than one is hard to understand . What do you do with a 3 million $ sports car , you wouldn't take it out on the road , would you ? Even the truck in question , would you run to home depot with it , or down to pick up dinner ? I also don't understand having a warehouse full of toys you only look at .
