Question Oil Filter compatibility

We have an engine at our shop that is used on a brush chipper. It is a Ford 360 that we think is around the 70's. We had a Mastercraft (canadian tire) oil filter on it that leaked. So I looked up the year and size of the engine up in the FRAM catalog and we had one laying around (I know, I bought it a long time ago) that said would fit on it. I believe it was a PH8 filter. It is for sure compatible with a 87 Ranger 2.3 L because that is what it was bought for. So can the same filter in a ranger fit this engine if it is the Ford filter? I believe a lot of the Ford trucks in the 80s and 90s took the same filter (FL1A I belive?).

Also, what filter does a 96 F-150 I-6 4.9L take? Thanks!

-Matt

Oil Filter compatibility

I put near 300k on my 300ci 6 cylinder using Fram PH-8's with alot of every other oil change changing the filter method.Ran well when sold .

I would not take everything one reads on the internet as gospel.

Your 4.9 uses a Fram PH-8 or eqivalent in other brands. The Motorcraft FL1-A would be a good choice .

Double check through your parts supplier for correct part numbers though

Most US Fords from about 1960 up to the mid '90's take the FL-1A or equivalent (PH-8).
