I am attempting to reduce engine bay clutter in my 1988 F150 5.0 by moving my TAB/ TAD sensor to anywhere else besides visible. They are useless since I have deleted my thermactor/ air pump system but I realize they have to remain electrically connected for fault code avoidance. I am relocating my coil as well. I cannot figure out what this other device is on the bracket. It is vacuum operated and fed by a RED wire and a DARK GREEN wire. I have been unable to locate it on the wiring diagram. Pics included, it is on the left with the TAB/ TAD solenoids to the right.

What is it and how necessary is it?






Also, when converting to the MAF system, does Pin 19 go to the inline fuel pump or somewhere else?

 

It is the EVR which controls the EGR valve position.

Best I can remember, pin 19 goes to the switched side of the fuel pump relay. It's used as a way for the engine computer to monitor the fuel pump circuit.

 

If my EGR valve is no longer hooked up, can it be moved/ hidden? I cant imagine its been monitoring much since all of its insides have turned to dust

 

They all need to be plugged in to avoid thrown codes and check engine light. The egr not having appropriate vacuum lines routed will also likely keep the check engine light on.

 

EGR is monitored constantly so you will have codes set at the very least.

 

So basically the little light that has been flashing and covered with electrical tape for 30 years will keep flashing? I think it will all get moved and clean it up.

 

Honestly, if it's in fact flashing, best to pull codes. My CEL has been on constantly but I know the codes are for deleted emissions, but a flashing light could be something serious
