installing cruise control
Hey. I am looking into installing o.e cruise control on a F150, 4.2L, 4x4. WHat does it take to pop off the original steering wheel? the idea of the air bag shooting off bothers me. What kind of tools would i need to get? Am i better off to take it to the dealer?And is there anyone who knows where I can get a better price on the kit other than the ford authorized sites?

Here you go:
WARNING: TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE INJURY, THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY MUST BE DEPLETED BEFORE SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY AIR BAG SYSTEM COMPONENTS. TO DEPLETE THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO STARTER RELAY CABLE AND WAIT ONE MINUTE.
NOTE: Make sure the front wheels are in the straight-ahead position.
Discharge backup power:
Remove the battery cables.
Remove the battery ground cable.
Remove the battery to starter relay cable and wait one minute for the backup power supply to be depleted.
Remove the driver side air bag module:
Remove the two back cover plugs.
Remove the screws.
Disconnect the horn electrical connector.
Disconnect the air bag sliding contact electrical connector.
Remove the driver side air bag module
Remove Steering Wheel:
Remove the steering wheel bolt.
Use 2-Jaw Puller to remove the steering wheel
Remove the multi-function switch:
Remove the screws.
Disconnect the electrical connector.
Remove the multi-function switch.
