Question Should I sell or Keep?

Hi there I have a 1990 Ford F-150 XLT Super Cab with a 302 EFI auto trans 2x4. 60,900 Miles with rebuilt eng. Don't know what miles are on it. A/C needs work, needs new pipes and mufflers from the cats back, needs body work on rear bed and sides, needs new rear bumper and drivers side floor board. Needs new rear shocks. Tires are pretty new and breaks, eng. runs good but in the need for a tune up, cooling system is very good. Well everything else about the truck is pretty good working order. So should I sell it or keep it? The Kelly Blue Book Value is $2,900 with what it needs for work.

Thanks again everyone.

I love working on my truck, sounds like a great project truck. If it were mine I would keep it, fix it. Sometimes I take things apart on mine and clean them because I've fixed everything. That's the problem with Fords, you fix them and they stay fixed.

I would say that question has been thought about by everyone. Would say it boils down to a few things. Is it paid for? Do you enjoy working on your own vehicle? Can you see puting the money into it to make it how you want? Can you see it even being anything you would want to keep? Is it realistic for you to maintain it? Maybe it is just me but as I get older it boils down to dependability and what I can live with, if you don't trust the vehicle or have the desire to make it right then get a new one. I have had new vehicles and old and have to say it doesn't matter how new a vehicle you get there will always be something better I don't care if you spent a million on a show car there is something out there that someone else likes even more. It is all about you, if your truck is about point a to point b transportation then get what ever but if your vehicle is an extention or has to make you feel good, then does it? Don't you hate when questions are answered with more questions?

jwtaylor is right on the money. Other factors to think about are the real price of replacing it. Not only are new trucks incredibly expensive, but add in the financing costs and increased insurance premiums. The idea of investing a few thousand into an older truck can make alot of sense. As far as reliability, I drive by dealer lots everyday going to work in the morning, and I see cars lined up waiting to be checked in for warranty or recall work.
Throw in a new paint job and some cool rims and you may be way ahead of the game with what you have.

Should I sell or Keep?

amen to all this. and i might add,

$1,000 bux twice a year in mods/repairs/upgrades beats the hell out of $300 - $400 a month in payments

I am also in the same boat with a 89 F150 supercab long box 4x4, Its getting rusty, and it has a gutless 302!, two leaking gas tanks. I have replaced the heads ( cracked ), replaced the oil pan, replaced the starter, alternater, fuel position sensor and other fine ford products??
I also drive by MANY dealers to and from work every day, I love working on my Toys!! Yes, this falls into that catagory, However, My truck is going up for sale, I am tired of the seemingly bottomless pit!, I guess if it had a better motor ( more power ) I may think differently, Maybe!
I will take a chance on something a bit newer, Even though I also own a 94 Explorer, 2002 Taures, and a 76 Corvette. My next truck may not be a ford...
Good luck with your decision, It is hard to let an old friend go.
