Instrument cluster ?
I have decided to use this panel in my '66 with the lower chrome piece behind the *****. Any idea what they came on, or even better if anyone has one new or used? I have the vacuum gauge the 4 gauge cluster and the Tach.

Not used in 1966 2WD or 4WD. The 2WD Custom Cabs used the sweep speedometer.
Judging from the illustrations - I believe it is base number 04438 - but no reference in the text section of my copy of the MPC.
I know they were reproduced for a while, but sure not finding any easily now.

FTE member The Masked Rider (Fritz) has one of these trucks with the round speedo cluster. He has proof that it came that way.
Otherwise, the chrome steel Custom Cab instrument cluster bezel will be found in: 1961/64 F100/1100; 1965 F100/250 4WD; 1965/66 F350/1100; 1966 F250 4WD
The lower (below the cluster) right and left Custom Cab trim panels were used in 1963, possibly in 1964. Lotsa luck finding a pic of these panels in the parts catalogs.
It's there, because I found the pic about 5 years ago, but haven't been able to find it since.

Fritz - show us the proof.....
The 1966 Salesmens Facts Book lists a lot of Delete possibilities (Padded dash, heater, etc) but not the bright-plastic instrument cluster for Custom Cab - but I'm sure anything could be made to happen.
ND - see Interior Trim Page 15 in Illustration Section - you've posted this one more than a couple of times before. Anyway, see just above the dash line the number 04438 and follow the arrow. Can't imagine that could be anything else it is pointing at and given the lack of a textual reference....
Does any older MPC (pre-1975) of yours list the full part number in the Text portion by chance? Or even a section for 04438?
Thanks
Chad

1957/68 Ford Truck Parts Catalog (loose leaf paper):
C4TZ-8104438-A .. Panel - Instrument Panel Finish - At Cluster - Rustless Steel includes Custom Cab lettering: 1964/65 F100/250 (81B).
It's one piece, I thought it was two pieces.
As I recall, Fritz bought his truck (I cannot recall if it's a 1965 or 1966) from the original owner, who told him he had to order it to get the round C/C cluster bezel.

Thanks Guys, that doesn't sound promising, and my searches are coming up blank as well. May have to settle for the top only. I have 2 good upper panels so I could have one chromed. I wonder how it would look with just a flat chrome plate under it, 1/8" steel and round the edges?? Or 3003 polished aluminum ??

Yes.
My truck has both, and the idiot lights still work. The PO added the set of 3 gauges below the dash, which all work.
My original round oil pressure gauge and original temp gauge are not working (not connected to senders).

While we are discussing shiney parts, does anyone carry GOOD Quality Chrome bumpers, grills and head light doors or should I just send mine out to rechrome? And while we are at it anyone have experience with a chrome shop in New England?

Sorry for the thread hijack...

Hi guys. Sorry, should have posted sooner. I check in as much as time allows but seldom post.
First off, Eric, its SS. You can polish it up really nice.
Hi Chad. The 'proof' Bill mentioned is not in a book/manual or such. My friend ordered the 65' NEW. He was a very picky guy and wanted it the way he wanted it. Go figure. I was with him when he was making a list of what he wanted and I was with him when he ordered it from Swanson Ford (I think that's the name, been awhile) in Las Gatos, CA. I guess than Swanson Ford sent the order to San Jose District Sales Office and than to the San Jose Assembly Plant to be built. Wonder how much money changed hands on the way there.. HMMMM
Anyway, He DID NOT like the sweep type speedo and opted out/deleted I guess the word is and ordered the round speedo WITH the 4 'gauges' around the speedo. Fuel / Temp / Alt / Oil. And yes, the oil DAA light also works. You have to have both types of sending units at the oil filter housing.
This combo could be ordered from the factory. He also ordered the lower plate that says 'Custom Cab' on it. He was lucky on that I guess because they discontinued that bottom plate earlier in 65' I believe, not sure on that, but I guess they still had a bunch in stock still. They also still used them on the BIG cc trucks for a couple years I think. Both the upper and lower sections were painted 'Argent', I think that's how you spell it, leaving the edges shinny. Upper was chromed plated and lower was SS.
He ordered it with pretty much everything he wanted.
I still have the window sticker/ build sheet stored away which has all the deleted and option/added stuff. It has deleted seat belts, he didn't much like em. The truck is torn down for repaint and modifications. Soon as summer comes around and I gain a little more funds, I will do some more on it as time allows. Think its going to be a long project. Slowing down I guess.
However - to continue. Its been a love/hate relationship over the years. It was stolen once, broken into twice with stuff stolen. Second time it was broken into they stole my seats, console, and an aftermarket tank cover that was made of some type of plastic. They knew exactly what they wanted. They didn't even take a camera I had on the floor. They got what they wanted. Sad thing is,,, It had to be a fellow F-100 guy. And on top of that the fact I was not really taking the care of it as I should have over the years.
My friend left it to me. He shipped out in 66' and didn't make it through his first tour. He only had a few weeks to go. He ordered the truck in May, 65', if I remember correctly and it was built in July of 65'. BUT it was not built as he wanted it. SO, he didn't take position of it until around the first of OCT, I think. So long ago. He only got a few months to enjoy it before he shipped out. I shipped out in 68' so not much time to enjoy it either.
