I have been shoehorning a 1960 crew cab onto an E450 powerstroke ambulance chassis. I will say the rust repair and amount of fabrication were much more than expected but I am close to finishing. Please look through my album or feel free to ask anything about the build.
That frame swap seems to fit great! Nice work!
How did the 7.3 fit against the fire wall did the downpipe clear good? Did you have to make body lifts to clear the hood with the 7.3?
Your new roof looks great! What did you use for that roof? Did you use the E450?
The repairs look good. I have the same rust situation on my cab. I don't think Ford did a very good job of designing these cabs for longevity.
Yea however the water is getting up into that area it just rotts these cabs. Everything is doable but i still wish someone made sheet metal parts for them. Im sure ill get faster at it with all this practice i get to have!
Nice work. Did you have to fab cab corners? A lot of people here would like to see that because we can't buy them anymore.
Not yet. these front corners had to come first. The thinking behind that is these are only accessible when the fenders are off. Taking the fenders and whole front clip off is easy and fast right now, but as soon as i swap in that 7.3 with all the wiring im guessing it might be a little harder to do as easily as it is now.
My plan is to fab those rear cab corners after i get the truck running and driving. I have to prioritize everything now because last month i got notice that the owners of my shop complex have put it for sale and if it sells ill probably have to move out.
