Gasoline Quality?
when i buy gas i try to buy exxon or something similar in quality to help my engine run better. is this even neccesary? i have heard that some cheap places use methane mixed in for cleaner emissions and to offset the price. who has any knowlege or opinions?

I track every single tank of gas that goes into my truck, and when I plot my results I find that Shell gets me the best milage, usually by 2 or 3 mgp. I don't know why this is, but the results don't lie.

what do you think of the gas you get on base? i have been using that all the time i have been in cali due to exorbitant pricing...right now its $1.97 here on camp p

At the refinery the tankers all fill up from the same tank. A certain amount of additives are added for the different brands. I don't know if they even do that for regular grade.

The gas on base does alright. Not as good as Shell, but not as bad as Amacco. Due to the distance to the nearest gas station out here, I'm usually forced to use the base gas station.

My old truck will run on whatever I put in it, but I use Texaco unless there is a price war going on.

I got shell last night because it was priced a bit lower than everyone else (only 5 cents less, but it's the principle!). Anyhow, I'll see if that does anything for me. Usually I go to Citgo; Citgo 87 doesn't seem to ping nearly as much as say Wawa or Exxon.

I use mobil 75% of the time. I try and fill up on thursdays. The local Sunoco stations have ten cents off of ultra 94 on thursdays. It comes out to being just about 89 pricing. I can deal with that.

Got all my vehs. liking Chevron,good gas milage and no gas related problems.I tryed the local gas&go and the milage drops about 2 mpg and they dont run as good.
At work we use Shell and it does good. I guess its what ever your veh is use to.JM.02W

i used to work at that little gas station by the px on the san clemente side of camp p, it was my first job working there. we lived up in the housing area. my second job was carls jr's right there off the ramp and then i got a job at the power plant right there by the base

I use whatever costs the least for my gassers--Hess, Sunoco, A L Prime, or independents. Never noticed any real difference.
I won't buy diesel anywhere that doesn't sell a bunch of it, though.
