Name That Part

Hello Everyone,

Trying to get everything ready before I start putting my 1984 Ford F150 2 WD 4.9L 300 I6 Styleside pick up back together. Anyone know what this is? What is its function and where does it go on the truck. My little baggie says "Clutch Activator to Frame Support - Left Side." However, I have searched my Ford Manuals and I can't find it? The numbers are worn out. All I have is E4TB 11A _ _ _ A.
Thanks!

WoW... Thanks. I haven't been able to find the exact part for my vehicle, but I found what I think is an exact match: but it is for a 1986-04 Mustang. 82 F100 300 Six - Half a wheel cylinder?

this "auto adjusts" when the clutch is to the floor. Clutch mst be to the floor in order for the ignition to start the engine.

Anyone know what this is?

The ID engineering number is E4TB-11A152-AA
E4TZ-11A152-B .. Starter (aka clutch safety) Switch-Located on clutch pedal (Motorcraft SW-1909) / Obsolete

1984/86 F150/350 & Bronco.

No Ford dealer (with one exception) or obsolete parts vendor has any.

It will not work! It has to be for a 1984/86 F150/350 & Bronco.
With one exception: A dealer in OK has (1) E4TZ-11A152-B but it's not listed on his parts inventory.

9/2017: Chris (ctubutis-moderator of this forum) & I spent two weeks driving in OK and parts of TX & KS .. we stopped at 23 Ford dealers.

In at least 4, I walked thru the parts departments looking in parts bins for 'goodies.' Chris also did this, but he doesn't know one Ford part number from another.

I pointed this part out to Chris, said no one has any and he should buy it for spec, but he was asleep at the switch, so he didn't.

Yup... I remember that, Bill. I didn't want to buy it because I see SO FEW people on here talking about this specific part that I figured it wouldn't have been worth it to buy the thing.

Wasn't this the dealer with the framed picture of Henry Ford?

And now someone needs one... (sigh)

And t'was the first dealer you bought a viewer from. Gawd almighty, that was a filthy place where 'ol 'framed' Henry ended up.

Do you remember the name/location? I do.

Yeah, I know... somebody now needs one. My feelings at the time were to tell the person to go to a junkyard if they really want one. It shouldn't be long before somebody here suggests connecting the wires together and just bypassing the thing entirely.

Do I remember the name/location of the dealer? Not at all... and I threw away all the business cards I had collected along the way. Not that I would remember one from another, all those towns in OK are named after American Indian tribes and I'd end up Googling each dealership/town to get an idea of where they are located.

What I seem to remember - and please correct me if I'm wrong - is that the dealer was kinda out in the sticks in a place nobody (in my mind) would think to go looking for a Ford dealer. We got pointed to it by a dealership kinda near a highway we had stopped at, we chatted with the owner... this guy had a few GT350s parked out front (I would REALLY like to have one of those! Maybe a convertible, even! Never had a new car in my life, most of my cars were hand-me-downs from my mom) and maybe one inside.

As for the dealership in the sticks, the showroom was largely empty as I recall, maybe with 1 truck & 1 car inside.

I'll bet if I could twitch my nose like Samantha Stevens and magically appear in their parts storeroom, I'll bet I could find that switch again.

I wanted to get that Henry Ford picture to give to Gary to hang in his shop.

~~

You're right, I don't remember one part number from another after bunches of time goes by... I *think* 9H307 is a fuel tank sender/pump assembly but I could be wrong.

~~

Anyhow, I'm glad we got to go on that trip!!! I watched you surf Google Earth while at your residencia and I'm happy to have physically gone to some of those places with you - even though you were ornery & cranky much of the time and yelled at me tooooo much.

How did you ever get permission to "rummage through parts bins"

To me this is the kid with free reign in a candy shop!

Permission came really easily to be honest; the personality of Small Town America is just wonderful if you ask me.

Bill did all of the talking, I just walked around and ooooo'd & ahhhh'd at all the stuff except for this one dealership we immediately returned to and I did some physical work there to help the owner clean up.

Bill did almost all of the talking.... we'd enter a dealership, generally go intermediately to the Parts Department. Bill had his standard dialogue... we're looking for

1) A microfiche viewer
2) Old fiche slides
3) Old paper (printed) documentation
4) Any NOS parts they might still have they haven't been able to get rid of.

People were friendly!!! The responses were encouraging, not like I expected.

Many dealerships got rid of all that stuff years ago, and most of those such dealerships had been updated & modernized - for example, the building was nice & new-looking, and all the office supplies were new & modern.

But some of these dealerships are still in the Stone Age, as were some of the employees.

And those people got to talking with Bill, and I could see they were impressed with his knowledge of the industry, he definitely showed those folks he knows what he's talking about. And they gladly took us to the back rooms and let us wander around to poke through stuff.

Of the obsolete NOS parts, many were things nobody cares about, e.g. trim pieces for a 1980s Ford Escort/Mercury Lynx for example.

But every now & again we came across some cool chit... but only somebody (like Bill) who knows the part numbers can look at the boxes & envelopes & what-have-you to know what's inside without opening up the package.

And we came across a 1970 Boss 302 Mustang and a 1970 Torino Cobra GT (or somesuch) parked in the back of one of those shops, covered in dirt & dust as if they had been there for a while. The guy would sell me the Boss for something like $45k but wanted to keep the Torino... he told us he has other stuff at the barn behind his personal residence.

And there's an abandoned dealership in Texas I'd like to get inside of, and get some signs on the outside of the building.

~~

Long story short (too late!) it was remarkably easy to get permission to go into these back rooms, but I suspect being an obvious expert helped the situation, I was more or less just along for the ride.

A really nice lady at one of the dealerships ((grand?)daughter of the original owner) even gave us gifts for stopping by & chatting!

Baseball caps!!!

Bill - Was this the dealership that sent us to the sticks? No, it was the guy with the Candy Apple red GT350s out front who did that... but maybe she pointed us to another dealership to investigate, people were amazingly helpful & friendly in that regard.
