Transmission dipstick
I cannot locate the transmission dipstick on my 2002 Ford F-150 5.4L engine..

It should be located on the passenger side near the fire wall. I believe that the top of the handle is yellow.

I've looked on firewall
I cannot locate the transmission dipstick...is it possible that there is Not one on this engine and may be located under the engine on the transmission ?

You stated that you have a 2002, by chance should it have been a 2012?

There is a dipstick that is on the transmission and can only be accessed from under the truck. There is no dipstick tube in the engine compartment on a 2012.

Thanks for your help...it is a 2002...I've tried to find images on Google to help me locate the transmission dipstick...it's not on or near the firewall...I have been looking for a yellow handle marked "transmission"...no luck...transmission is slow to get in gear after shifting..figured its low on fluid

Here's a photo of my old 2002 F150 with the 5.4. You can see the dipstick just right of the battery, yellow head.

Thanks for the photo...apparently the entire shaft and the dipstick came loose and is missing...this should be fun trying to replace it...

Sorry about the confusion and it has been almost a year since I sold my 2001. I forgot how cluttered it is under the hood of that generation truck.

Maybe someone here knows the best way to replace the dipstick tube or where to get one?
