Rear & Side door latch problem (doors open correctly)
First time caller, long time listener. Great forum, and I've already found great info here (mostly in the diesel section since I have a 6.0). I have a 2008 E350 extended with 6 doors (no slider) and only 47k miles. It has only seen light duty as a family van. It was never a work van, and as such was never abused.
I searched and was unable to find anything related to the problem I'm having with the upper latch of the left rear door, and the rear passenger side (suicide) doors.
Let me start by saying that the side and rear cargo doors open and close properly with the inside and outside handles.
The problem I'm experiencing is that the upper latch on the left rear, and passenger side suicide doors will un-latch when I'm driving. I can tell when it happens because the doors will begin to rattle. I confirm they unlatch because I can grab the upper portion of the door and pull it away from the door frame.
I initially thought that I wasn't closing the doors hard enough, but I was able to confirm that wasn't the case. I closed the doors with a firm swing, and when I grasp the tops of the doors and pull, there is zero movement. They always latch.
Has anyone else had this problem? Are the upper cables / latches adjustable? Can anyone point me to the right thread or YouTube video?
Thanks!
