HELP Backfire!!

I have a '90 F150 302 5L, a few days ago it started missing. I put in new plugs, wires, distributer cap and rotor figuring that it would help. (They needed changing anyway). Now it backfires (under a load). Anyone have any suggestions? I can use all the help I can get.

HELP Backfire!!

Well backfiring can usually be from an electrical source. If it ran fine before the plugs, cap, and plug change it would seem a fault in the install. Did you double check firing order, did you happen to move the distributor? I am sure you checked these just thought I would throw it out there. Later

It may also be the ignition control module on the distributor.

since you change the cap and rotor did you reset the timming? DW

HELP Backfire!!

Thanks to all who replied to my Query. The offending unit, was the TFI Module. Apparently it was original to the truck. People I've talked to claim there's a problem with these. (Mine held on for 13 years, must be a fluke). Still all advice is greatly appreciated.
I'm so glad I found this forum. I don't feel so alone amongst my Chevy & Dodge friends now.
